Margaritaville For Caribbean Escapism On Land or at Sea
Margaritaville is a name that has been exploding on the leisure travel scene recently. Of course it's impossible to land in Cancun or Jamaica and not be welcomed by a Margaritaville outlet. Fast forward a few years and Margaritaville is the main attraction on Grand Turks and the brand new Harvest Caye in Belize for cruise fans. And of course the incredible Norwegian Escape is the home of Margaritaville at Sea (the first) and the 5 O'clock Somewhere Bar.

Now the legend of Jimmy Buffett, his memorable song lyrics and tropical lifestyle are the attraction behind a slew of resort style hotels emerging everywhere from Bossier City, LA to Pigeon Forge, TN. And let's not leave out the fabulous Margaritaville Hollywood Beach, FL which features the once neglected adjacent band shell on the beach, now managed by Margaritaville and producing live music on a regular basis for the enjoyment of anyone, guest or not. Margaritaville has charted an aggressive growth plan to add 10 hotels and resorts to open and be operational by the end of 2018, and much more on the horizon beyond that. Here's a look at two remarkable resort developments.
MARGARITAVILLE BEACH RESORT GRAND CAYMAN The former Treasure island Resort has been Buffettized and will open its doors early this year on famed Seven Mile Beach. It will feature 286 guest rooms; three pools - an activity pool with a waterslide, main pool complete with swim-up bar (a must for our clients), and an adult-only pool (a very good call).
other amenities include live entertainment (of course), fitness center, retail shops, and plenty of Buffett namesake bars like License to Chill Bar, the Banana Wind Cafe, and the resort's signature restaurant, YARA - a steakhouse.
MARGARITAVILLE RESORT ORLANDO This is a whopper - a $750 million new build development located near Disney's Animal Kingdom, where the previous Splendid China once stood. The first phase is expected to open in 2018.
The development will feature the 187-room Margaritaville hotel, 1,000 Margaritaville-themed vacation homes, 300 timeshare units, store, dining and entertainment district, 30,000 square feet of functional space, a 12-acre water park, wooded fitness trails, a water taxi system, wellness center, and the centerpiece - a three-acre freshwater swimmable lagoon with sand beaches, cabanas and water activities.

I, for one, am thrilled to see this development. Professionally I know that our clientele loves relaxed tropical vacations. Personally I spent money in the first Key West (off Duval Street) Margaritaville and continue to do so all over the Caribbean. And of course I venture to at least one Jimmy Buffett concert annually.
