Excellence Playa Mujeres, a true 5-Star, all-inclusive, adults-only oasis, was the first hotel built on a stretch of virgin 20-mile long white sand beach called Playa Mujeres, which faces the lovely island - Isla Mujeres, just two miles across the channel. ULTIMATE VACATIONS stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres soon after it opened and several times since. The resort was voted to the Conde Nast Gold List annually, most recently for 2019 and #16 spa in Mexico and Central America, we are proud knowing we have recommended this resort since its opening. We have groups that return to Excellence Playa Mujeres annually. This gorgeous location sits just 20 minutes north of the Cancun hotel zone, and about 25 minutes from the Cancun International Airport. Because of its unique location above the hotel zone and enjoying shelter from Isla Mujeres, Excellence Playa Mujeres has calmer waters than Cancun hotels and has a well protected natural sandy beach.
Excellence Playa Mujeres features seven pools including enormous lazy rivers that run through it and around beachfront restaurants. This all suite resort sits on a beautiful white sand beach and features suites with options for swim-up suites, terraces with private plunge pools, and massive two-story suites with private furnished rooftops. The all inclusive plan delivers 12 indoor and outdoor bars serving premium brand drinks, along with 13 gourmet caliber dining options. Not to worry, the gym, spa, daily activities and nightly entertainment will not disappoint.
Excellence Playa Mujeres was the first hotel to open in the emerging planned Playa Mujeres development. An 18-hole Greg Norman golf course already challenges golf enthusiasts with all play near the beach. The 170-slip marina is just steps away. An upscale 109-room all-inclusive boutique sister hotel, The Beloved, also owned by the Excellence Group is just next door. The Finest Playa Mujeres by Excellence opened in February, 2015 and offers the same high level of quality for all ages.
But Excellence Playa Mujeres is the main event here. Excellence brought its renowned cuisine and impeccable service along with a similar layout from the Excellence Riviera Cancun to this location, and has somehow managed to enhance and upgrade an already luxurious concept. An attendant will tote your luggage and explain plenty about the resort while escorting you to your suite. Inside, he will make certain you understand how the Jacuzzi, safe, private room service box, ceiling fan, AC, stocked mini-fridge and everything else operate.
Let’s begin by describing the accommodations. Unlike other “romantic” resorts with confusing multiple room categories and less than overwhelming entry level rooms, Excellence Playa Mujeres shines with luxurious amenities and top of the line furnishings from the lowest price to the top of the chart. In fact, all of Excellence Playa Mujeres rooms are basically identical. Only location, view and amenities change among room categories. So you can not go wrong. Not only are the rooms a generous 807 square feet junior suite, they are elegant and contemporary.
Each suite at Excellence Playa Mujeres features an enormous king-size bed (a few rooms have two double beds) with dual nightstands, and alarm clock and iPod connectivity; a long dresser, living area with an extra wide L-shaped sofa loaded with pillows, and coffee table facing the 42-inch wall-mounted flat screen TV (also viewable from the bed); a ceiling fan and table with 2 chairs. FREE wireless internet access allowed us to communicate with clients and the office from our room. There is a Jacuzzi with an exterior view, double sink bowls, a large walk-in shower with two shower heads including one rain shower head and one hand held, and a bench; separate water closet, stocked mini-fridge, and an expansive private terrace or balcony complete with a double day bed, table and two chairs, and two loungers.
