Windstar touts a private event on every sailing. In the Caribbean it is a private island experience in St Lucia. Of course you are free to explore St Lucia as you wish either independently or with a shore excursion through Windstar.

We opted to do our travel agent due diligence and inspect the new Royalton St Lucia, an outstanding all inclusive resort only a few minutes away via a cab ride from Pigeon Island. Trying to balance continuing education and fun here folks. It was well worth the effort and we hustled back to the private event to be able to experience it.

​

Windstar offers a more limited menu of excursions here, obviously to allow guests to enjoy the included Beach BBQ Party they put on. However, among the excursion options are, a Rainforest Canopy Adventure, Rainforest Hike & River Pool, Golf, and a gondola experience at the Aerial Tram Park, which whisks you through the rainforest to a mountaintop.

Pigeon Island is located within a National Park. If you leave the park just inform the person at the gate on your return that you are on Windstar and you will not be charged to enter. Cabs are available as soon as you reach the end of the park.

The Wind Surf arrived in St Lucia at 8am and tenders are available soon after to the island for those doing excursions or doing your own thing as we did. The beach actually opens at 10am for the Private Event.

So what is the Private Island Event? Windstar does it right.  By the time guests arrive lounge chairs and shade umbrellas are all set up and waiting on guests. At 11:30am there was a yoga class on the beach if you wanted to stretch and get rid of stress. Stress? And the staff had water sports equipment available to use - snorkel gear, paddle boards, kayaks, wind surf boards, etc.

A delicious BBQ Buffet is served at 12 noon until 2 pm, and of course it is included just as if you were onboard. Drinks are available for purchase, also just as onboard unless you previously purchased the drink package. The typical soft drinks and water are complimentary, just as onboard.

​

The last tender back to the ship pulls out at 4:30pm. Then the Wind Surf pulls away from our beautiful beach past sailboats and Sandals Grande St Lucian out to sea. Within 30 minutes the daily Sail Away festivities are under way and the white sails are hoisted under mostly sunny skies. Mountainous St Lucia serves as a splendid backdrop for our sailing yacht as we sail along the coast before we head out to sea toward our nest exciting Caribbean port of call.

We dined at the exclusive Stella Bistro tonight. The indoor French inspired restaurant features French favorites - French Onion soup, Escargot, and a lengthy menu of seasonal selections. This is the ideal evening to pair wine with dinner. But save room. The desert sections are amazing!

​

Along with Candles (outdoor dining) Stella Bistro are the "Specialty Dining" options. However with Windstar they are complimentary and every guests is entitle to dine at each once. 

​

Tonight's entertainment included two popular items - Beatles music and Martini's. Welcome to Beatles Tribute & Martini Party aft on the Main Deck. Both onboard band combine talents to perform Beatles hits while a wide variety or Martini's are available for purchase (or drink package). Of course Mellow Yellow Duo performs nightly from 10:30 until ...  in the Compass Room.
