DEPARTURE DAY FROM ST. MAARTEN
Arrive St Maarten | Windstar Wind Surf | Setting Sail

Traveling to the Caribbean requires a full day of traveling. We recommend arriving a day early for cruises to avoid unforeseen issues. "Do as we say, not as we do." In this case a busy schedule (and concert the night before) did not permit us this luxury. So we arrived at the port to disembark in the late afternoon.

We arrived in the St Maarten crowded cruise terminal surprised to see so many impatient-looking people. We, however were guided directly to the counter where we were warmly greeted and check-in was accomplished in no time flat. Quickly we were guided out of the waiting area and accompanied directly onboard. The crowd it seems was there for a Seabourn cruise, docked next to our yacht. We spent a total of 10-miniutes from port arrival to cabin, and most of that was just walking the short distance from the terminal to the yacht.

We arrived too late for the full lunch but the Yacht Club has plenty of tasty sandwiches, wraps, deserts, and more. Plus the bar is open. We toured the ship, inspected the Suites, and took lots of great photos of it all. Very pleased with out cabin. We have multiple port holes for our outside view. Soon after the mandatory safety drill, which was held indoors in The Lounge, we returned to The Lounge for a Welcome Aboard Talk and tips for tomorrows port of call, Barbuda.

Dinner in the AmphorA was excellent. I opted for and enjoyed the Mango Irish Sea Sole Roulade in honor of our trip to Ireland last summer. Other options included Roasted Chicken, Black Angus Strip Steak, Scallop Risotto, Stuffed Pork Loin, and Beet Risotto. Additionally there are Classic entrees available and plenty of sides to select from.

Today was a long day preceded by a short night before. So it is off to bed with lots of anticipation for tomorrow and the full week ahead as we sail (literally) to some exotic Caribbean ports.

DRINK OF THE DAY: Bon Voyage

Vodka, Citron, Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice, and topped with soda. $7.75.
