Summer is around the corner and whether you're still looking for a great outdoor, nature escape for this summer or next, may I recommend ALASKA. There you will find the highest mountains, most amazing waterfalls, scenery, and most of all - Wildlife.

You can certainly experience ALASKA like I did last summer by driving. Or by tour. Those are the best ways to experience the unmatched interior. Of course cruises are the most popular. And that is a great option too. I have cruised also. Both on big ships and intimate ones.
On big ships you will "see" some of the great scenes ALASKA has to offer. You will also visit most of the popular ports to pay for excursions and to fill up on t-shirts, diamonds, etc. OR ... you can try UnCruise and "experience" ALASKA.

With UnCruise no ships accommodates more than 86 guests. The level of attention and knowledge of the dedicated crew and guides is off the charts. All of your delicious locally sourced meals, unlimited beverages (of course alcohol), and most importantly - your activities are INCLUDED.
With UnCruise you never pay for an activity or excursion. The experienced guides will visit with you each night before dinner to personally discuss the activities available for the next day. With their guidance you select the one(s) best for you.
Included activities are hikes, skiff rides, kayaking, bushwhacking, paddle boarding and snorkeling (yes, with wet suites). What you will see up close: 3,000 foot cliffs, bears, bears feeding on salmon, whales, seals, remains of logging cabins, walk among icebergs, walk or skiff right up to glaciers and waterfalls, sea otters and so much more!
GO WHERE BIG SHIPS CAN NOT GO! UnCruise ships, thanks to their size, are able to visit locations big ships can not get near. Inlets, coves, bays, remote islands with bears, locations where few humans have ever touched foot.
GLACIER BAY: Big ships enter Glacier Bay for a few hours and you "see" glaciers from a distance. With UnCruise you "experience" Glacier Bay by taking skiffs to go ashore to walk among icebergs, hike, bushwhack, kayak, pull up beside waterfalls and a grazing bear family. We did all of these. And even visited the Visitors Center, walked around and saw moose up close, in open spaces, and a whale skeleton. With a fantastic UnCruise guide I bushwhacked uphill, alongside the 17-mile Lamplugh Glacier. Who gets to do all of that!
UnCruise has itineraries where you actually overnight in Glacier Bay. So you can wake up in the morning and begin exploring immediately. By skiff, by foot, by kayak. However you wish. And yes, we did this too. Good luck having that "experience" on a big ship.
With UnCruise you will still get to experience ports. Cruises begin and end in ports like Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan. And of course you can add pre- or post-nights as you wish.

WHEN TO VISIT ALASKA
This is a million dollar question. And the simple answer is: It Depends. It depends entirely on your goals. This is one of many ways where we can help. Do you want dry weather, long sunny days, bear sightings, whale viewing, Northern Lights, warm temperatures, view wildflowers, lowest pricing, view the salmon runs, fewest crowds? It all depends. They all have their own seasons.
SPRING (April & May)
This can be the driest time of year. In April the Northern Lights are still visible. Fewer crowds, Best pricing. Gray Whales, birds and dolphins are most visible. Days are longer in May. I've worn t-shirts there in May.

SUMMER (June - August)
Wildlife viewing is at it's best. Longest days are in June. Weather is the warmest. Humpback Whales are at their peak population. Bears feed on Salmon. Crowds are at their peak, but oh well.
FALL (September)
The crowds are gone. Fares are back at their best. Fall colors are at their richest. Wildlife is still at peak as they prepare for winter. Northern Lights return. Migratory Wildlife (Gray Whales, birds and dolphins return in mid-late September).
If you have cruised ALASKA but want to experience it deeper, UnCruise is your answer. Warning: UnCruise fares are a bit higher than big ships, starting at around $4,400 per person before any Sales. There is a sale available right now. And if ALASKSA is a lifetime dream or possibly a once in a life experience - it is well worth it. The crew, experience, cuisine is unmatched.
